![]() I've posted at length before about how people waste their time chasing 60fps when it's not only pointless but actively counter-productive and I'm tired of the argument. Oh, also, if the game is designed for and locked at 30fps and you somehow successfully interpolate 30 more frames per second without introducing errors and garbage data, it's going to look and play very odd. It has nothing to do with the frame rate. Good luck playing any kind of timing based game (any game that requires inputs, really) whilst doing that.Īdditionally "upscaling" is a process performed on an image or video to increase the framesize/resolution. ![]() 30 times per second assuming a 30 to 60 conversion. You have to run it through a process called "frame interpolation" which introduces a significant amount of signal lag, because it has to receive each frame, figure out what an "in between" image looks like, and insert it at the right point. You can't just "upscale the framerate" (lol) of something that is locked to a specific one. (Oh and as a quick edit: I know that capture cards have a passthrough, in order to display them on-screen - this is not what I'm needing here, as I need to process the image live) and is proven to have less than a second of input lag?.My question is, is there any cheaper alternative that My current plan is to upgrade to the HD60S, but it costs a whopping $180 (more like $220 with shipping and taxes to my country), and given that I've been using my current capture card for a while, it'll barely get any resale value to offset. Yes, it does capture 1080p 60 FPS, but because it's only USB 2.0 it takes about two or three seconds to stream the picture to my computer. the problem is that those are the local results only, and my current capture card is the old model of the Elgato HD60. So far my setup is able to upscale it at a decent quality, with just 0.2 seconds of lag. I'm currently trying to find a way to capture footage from a Nintendo Switch and PS4 to my computer, in order to pass it through SmoothVideo and upscale the framerate live from 30 to 60 FPS.
